Well I just had my last big race of the season AND I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was happy, my coach was happy and my parents were happy, what more do you want!
Going into the race I was slightly nervous, my coach said I had an opportunity to prove myself. This added a little pressure to my performance but when it came to it I slipped into my usual race day plan and mind set – all you can do is try your best. I got the news shortly after selection that British Canoeing could no longer support me on a programme after September. It was a hard concept to deal with but I’m glad I have my passion in coaching to help me along. I’ve decided to base myself in Nottingham and continue to race and train competitively through the winter and into the 2017 season. I’m surrounded by a great paddling community and resources to carry on at a high level.
Sure enough by doing what I do at every race I paddled well and actually did one better than last year - finishing 5th in the British Open final!!!!

I have one more National ranking race in North Wales, where currently I am ranked 5th in Britain for K1W (one place higher than last year) and 3rd U23. Hopefully I can hold that position! I have already qualified for selection next year, so here’s to a good winter of training to prepare!
ALSO THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS AND CONTINUES TO SUPPORT ME IN MY SPORTING ENDEAVORS!
